Musician G. Love performed at the Academy Playhouse to benefit the Orleans Conservation Trust on August 7. 2017.  This sold out show raised $16,600 toward the purchase of the 1.7 acre property at Braddock’s Way!  OCT is now about a third of the way toward its goal of buying this parcel to connect to White’s Lane Conservation Area, a restored grassland habitat with nesting Northern diamondback terrapins (read more about this potential purchase at https://orleansconservationtrust.org/land-acquisition-opportunity-braddocks-way/).

The night started with drinks, food, and a silent auction outside.  G. Love then performed his unique blues hip-hop fusion for over an hour, first in a solo performance, then being joined by a local bass player and drummer to end the night rocking out.

This event was a success thanks to the support of various sponsors, including Hog Island Beer Co., David Bowler Wine, and Land Ho!.  In addition, the following local businesses/residents donated auction items: G. Love, Marcelle Desrochers Landscaping, Lake Farm Gardens, Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, Garden Gate Design, Local Scoop, Sailsco, Bob Yaps, Orleans Cycle, and ABBA Restaurant.  Another major component of our fundraising was the raffle of Hardie Truesdale’s framed photography of Nauset Marsh.  Thank you to everyone who attended and generously donated to OCT.

We hope this will turn into an annual event, and G. Love has even hinted at a large summer music festival in Orleans!
