Date: May 9, 2026

Time: 9:30 - 10:30am

Location: 13 Champlain Road, Orleans.

Join nature enthusiast and OCT Trustee, Jamie Demas, for her second guided hike with Orleans Recreation, in partnership with Orleans Conservation Trust.

Experience a landscape shaped by both natural forces and human history. Once cleared for agriculture, the area still holds old fruit trees and remnant cranberry bogs. As we explore the trail, we’ll pass an ecological restoration area where native grasses and pollinator plants are being reintroduced. Cedar trees, historic stone walls, and plant ID tags await us along this trail. We will stop at the freshwater “duck pond” to look for waterfowl before continuing on to the salt water Mill Pond, an extension of Nauset estuary.

Be sure to RSVP as spots are limited. Register on the Orleans Recreation website (no account creation required): www.orleansrecreation.com or call 508-240-3700 x2333

Duration: 1.5 mile walk, some areas may be wet along Mill Pond

Parking: There are a few parking spots at the trailhead, and parking is permitted on the right side of Mill Pond Rd (not on Champlain Rd.)
