Since the inception of AmeriCorps Cape Cod 16 years ago, OCT and AmeriCorps have worked collaboratively in the Town of Orleans to preserve land, neighborhood and town character. AmeriCorps Cape Cod’s continued support of our land acquisition pursuits, land management objectives, and expanding educational programs has allowed OCT to grow as an organization and become an integral part of the Orleans community. We are grateful for their support and acknowledge the fact that if it weren’t for programs like this, we would not be able to conduct the work we do within the community.
AmeriCorps is a federally funded national service movement overseen by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Often referred to as the “Domestic Peace Corps,” AmeriCorps engages Americans of different ages and backgrounds in service to address the most critical needs in our nation’s communities. Examples of program focus areas are education, literacy, public safety, the environment and disaster response.
The AmeriCorps Cape Cod program has been extremely successful in its endeavors, building strong relationships in the community with over 120 Town, County, State, Federal, non-profit, and community-based departments and organizations. The program has built its name and reputation on high quality environmental service and a unique and varied member experience.
