Nicholas Dorian, ecologist, educator, and naturalist, spoke to OCT members on The Secret Lives of Wild Bees. More than 4,000 species of bees inhabit North America, and most of them don’t live in hives or make honey. Nick discussed the natural history and conservation of wild bees: their varied lifestyles, their habitat needs, and their intricate relationships with flowering plants and with other insects. The audience gained a newfound appreciation for the secret lives of these charismatic pollinators, and knowledge about how to identify and support bees in your own backyard.
